Smart Office Support provides professional administrative, virtual assistant, and business support services to organisations and business owners across Bristol and beyond. Their focus is on helping clients reclaim valuable time by taking care of essential administrative tasks, allowing businesses to concentrate on growth and day-to-day operations.
Project Details
This project was a complete platform migration from Webflow to WordPress. While the existing website already reflected the company’s branding and messaging, the underlying platform was becoming a limitation. The brief was to recreate the website as faithfully as possible on WordPress, providing greater flexibility, lower long-term costs, and easier content management.
One unique challenge was that we had no access to the original Webflow project or content management system. The entire website had to be rebuilt by carefully analysing and recreating the front-end experience, effectively reverse-engineering the site while ensuring it remained visually consistent with the original.
Why Move from Webflow to WordPress?
Whilst Webflow is an excellent design tool, WordPress offered several advantages that better suited Smart Office Support’s long-term needs:
- Greater ownership and control over the website and content.
- Easier scalability as the business grows.
- A wider range of integrations and future development possibilities.
- Reduced dependency on a proprietary platform.
- More cost-effective long-term management and hosting options.
The result is a website that looks and functions almost identically to the original, but benefits from the flexibility and extensibility of the world’s most popular content management system.
Design and Technical Challenges
Although the visual design remained largely unchanged, rebuilding the site required meticulous attention to detail. Every layout, spacing rule, interaction, and content structure was recreated manually to ensure visitors experienced a seamless transition.
One notable improvement involved the site’s typography. The original website used Adobe Fonts, a common area of confusion for many designers. While Adobe fonts can be used on websites, they require the website owner themselves to hold the appropriate Adobe subscription. In many cases, designers inadvertently implement fonts that clients are not licensed to use independently.
To avoid this issue and ensure long-term sustainability, we replaced the original typeface with a carefully selected Google Font that not only improved accessibility and performance but also complemented the design beautifully. The result is a more robust and compliant solution without compromising the visual identity of the site.
Outcome
The completed website delivers all the benefits of the original design while providing a far more flexible and future-proof foundation. Smart Office Support now has a website that is easier to manage, more scalable, and free from platform restrictions, whilst maintaining the professional appearance their clients recognise.
This project demonstrates that a website migration doesn’t have to mean a redesign. Sometimes the biggest improvements happen behind the scenes, creating a stronger technical foundation whilst preserving everything users already love about the site.
