Together Portishead CIC is the new chamber of commerce for Portishead; a forward-thinking community interest company created to support, connect, and champion local businesses. As a not-for-profit organisation, its mission is to bring the town’s business community together through collaboration, advocacy, and shared opportunity.
Project Details
The brief was to create a powerful, modern membership website that would become the digital heart of Portishead’s business network. This meant building a platform that could support paid memberships, allow members to create and manage profiles, post updates, list events, and appear in a public-facing business directory.
Design and Functionality
The Together Portishead website is built as a fully-featured membership platform with a clean, welcoming design that reflects the community-led ethos of the CIC. We focused on creating an intuitive, user-friendly experience – for both members and visitors – while integrating all the essential tools a local chamber of commerce needs to thrive.
Key Functionality Includes
Member Directory: A searchable directory that showcases local businesses with member-managed listings.
User Posting: Members can publish updates, news, or articles, helping them raise their profile and engage with the wider network.
Events Calendar: A shared events system where members and organisers can list business-related events, workshops, and meetups.
Paid Memberships: A secure and flexible membership system.
Content and Control
We provided all the content for the initial launch, including clear messaging around the organisation’s goals, benefits of membership, and a welcoming tone that appeals to a broad audience, from sole traders to larger enterprises. Crucially, the system is set up so that the Together Portishead team can manage memberships, posts, and event listings with minimal admin, thanks to a streamlined dashboard and automated workflows.
