Studio 3

Client Overview

Studio 3 is an independent, not-for-profit artist studio and gallery in Clevedon, run by renowned artist Gail Clarke. It serves as a creative hub for a core group of resident artists while also offering exhibition space for guest artists, ensuring a continually evolving showcase of artistic talent. With a strong community focus, Studio 3 provides a platform for artists to share their work with the public in an inviting and accessible setting.

Project Details

Studio 3 needed a website that not only reflected the gallery’s artistic vision but also made managing and updating the site as effortless as possible. A key objective was to streamline the process for Gail to add new resident and guest artists without requiring extensive admin work. The site had to maintain a consistent look and feel across all artist profiles while allowing for automatic updates to ensure guest artists were displayed in the correct sections based on exhibition dates.

Design and Functionality

The new website features a visually rich design inspired by the artistic nature of Studio 3. The layout is clean and modern while retaining a unique creative aesthetic that aligns with the gallery’s identity. Large imagery and artist profiles take centre stage, making it easy for visitors to explore both the resident and guest artists’ work.

One of the most important technical elements of this build was creating a structured, templated system for adding new artists. This ensures that any updates Gail makes remain consistent in formatting, reducing the risk of misalignment or inconsistent styling. Additionally, we implemented an automated date-based system for guest artists, meaning they are dynamically sorted into “Current,” “Upcoming,” and “Past” categories without the need for manual updates. On our development version, all guest artists will eventually fall under the “Guests We’ve Had in the Past” section since updates are only made on the live site at www.studiothree.art.

Content and Usability

The site was built with user-friendliness in mind, both for visitors and the site administrator. Each artist profile includes an easy-to-read bio, images of their work, and links to their personal websites or social media. The site also includes clear navigation for visitors to find directions, contact details, and information about upcoming exhibitions.
